Amanda Leahy is in her second season as a member of the Harvard women's basketball coaching staff.

Leahy comes to Cambridge after a three-year stint at Wellesley College. She served as the recruiting coordinator with the Blue and was also heavily involved in scouting, practice planning and fund raising. Wellesley showed distinct improvement each year with Leahy on staff, going 9-16 with a 6-12 conference record in 2009-10 before finishing last season 13-12 with an 11-7 conference mark. Leahy coached three All-NEWMAC selections, including point guard Malia Maier who earned all-conference honors in back-to-back seasons.

Leahy also spent two years as the assistant director of strength and conditioning at Wellesley, designing and implementing individualized training programs for 12 of the Blue’s 14 varsity programs.

Leahy’s coaching career began at St. Lawrence University where she helped guide the Saints to the 2009 Liberty League championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance. St. Lawrence went 19-8 on the year and 10-4 in conference play, led by WBCA All-America honorable mention selection Katie Palmer.

A two-sport student-athlete at Bowdoin College, Leahy played both basketball and volleyball for the Polar Bears. She helped the women’s basketball team to an overall record of 101-17 over her four years, and served as a team captain as a senior. Bowdoin won three NESCAC championships with Leahy on the squad and made four appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including three trips to the Elite Eight.

Leahy also earned two varsity letters as a member of the women’s volleyball team and was chosen as a captain for her senior campaign. She led the Polar Bears to the program’s first 20-win season in 18 years in 2007, averaging 2.30 kps and 0.65 bps.

Leahy graduated from Bowdoin in 2008 with a pair of degrees in government & legal studies and history. In 2012, she earned her a master of sports leadership degree from Northeastern.
