Juanise Cornell joined the Harvard women's basketball staff for the 2011-12 season.
Cornell, who played at Colorado State from 2006-09, is a 2010 graduate of Colorado Christian with a degree in speech communications.
At Colorado State, Cornell was a two-time team MVP as well as the program’s Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman. She broke the Mountain West Conference freshman rebounding record in 2006-07 and left CSU among the school’s all-time leaders in rebounds per game, offensive rebounds and free throws. All told, Cornell appeared in 90 games at CSU and started 85.
At Colorado Christian, Cornell led her team to a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship and was named the Central Region Women’s Player of the Year.
Off the court, Cornell served as CSU’s first representative on a national sports committee when she served on the Division I Women’s Basketball Issues Committee. She was a two-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a four-year member of the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Collins, Colo.
A native of Azusa, Calif., Cornell was a two-time CIF Player of the Year at Bishop Amat Memorial High School, leading her school two consecutive state championships while posting a career record of 119-7.
