Lindsay Hallion ’08 returned to her alma mater to join the women’s basketball staff for the 2011-12 season. Hallion, a two-time All-Ivy League selection and senior captain, now enters her third season as an assistant coach with the Crimson working primarily with the guards.

In her first season back in Cambridge, Hallion helped the 2011-12 squad to an 18-12 record and a 9-7 record on the road, marking the first time since 2008-09 that Harvard had finished the season with a winning road record. The Crimson finished second in the Ivy League standings and earned a trip to the WNIT, where it became the first Ivy League school to pick up a win in the tournament when it upset Hofstra, 73-71. Harvard also picked up a very impressive victory over the BIG EAST's St. John's during the campaign, topping a Red Storm team which advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 and finished the year ranked 14th by the Associated Press. Additionally, both of Harvard's starting guards, Brogan Berry and Christine Clark, were named to the All-Ivy League First Team.

Hallion cames to Harvard after working for the FBI where she was assigned to criminal investigations. Prior to her time with the FBI she was a research assistant for Martin Research and Consulting in Cambridge.

“I am thrilled to have Lindsay back at Harvard,” head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith said. “She was exceptional as a student-athlete.  Her leadership, passion for the game and work ethic were second to none and I am so happy to have that back in the program.”

A native of Westwood, Mass., Hallion earned second-team All-Ivy League honors as a junior and senior. She also earned a spot on the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District second team as well. She was part of three Ivy League championship teams and was instrumental in the Crimson winning the 2007 and 2008 crowns. In 2007, as a junior, the Crimson went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003. Hallion was named the team’s most valuable player as a junior and a senior and won the Harvard Pride Award as a freshman and a senior.

After graduation, Hallion played overseas in Europe before returning to the United States to serve as assistant varsity girls’ basketball coach and as assistant athletic director at her alma mater, Westwood High School. She has also run summer clinics and coached individual training sessions in her hometown and lectured at various camps in addition to working as a summer camp counselor at numerous basketball camps.

While at Harvard, Hallion was involved with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Harvard Undergraduate Women in Business, the Leverett House Committee and Harvard reunions. She graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s of arts degree in psychology.
