CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's basketball is set to play in the 2014 Hall of Fame Women's Challenge, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced.
"We are very excited to play in the Basketball Hall of Fame Challenge, said head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith. "Here in New England, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is a treasure. The opportunity to compete with some of the perennial powerhouses in our sport makes this tournament very special."
The Crimson will be joined by Alabama, Quinnipiac, Georgetown, Holy Cross, Kansas, Notre Dame and Temple.
Harvard will play three games in South Bend, Ind., beginning Sunday, Nov. 23 against Quinnipiac. The Crimson will then take on Notre Dame Monday, Nov. 24 and wrap the weekend against Holy Cross.
As part of the challenge, the Crimson will also play Temple Sunday, Nov. 30 at Mohegan Sun Arena.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the non-profit Hall of Fame located in Springfield, Massachusetts, the birthplace of basketball. The tournament is hosted by the Hall of Fame and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
