Fagbenle has earned six weekly awards from the Ivy League this season (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Temi Fagbenle, who was named to the San Diego State Surf ’N Slam Classic All-Tournament team after averaging 17.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg over the weekend, earned Ivy League Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors on Monday.
Fagbenle also swept the Ancient Eight’s weekly awards on Dec. 17 and is the first student-athlete to do so twice in the same season since Penn’s Alyssa Baron in 2010-11. The London, England, native has now won six Ivy League honors on the year, twice being named player of the week and earning rookie of the week four times. Harvard has picked up nine of the conference’s 16 weekly awards this season and has won at least one award each week it has competed.
Fagbenle turned in her second straight double-double, her third of the year, with a career-high 18 points and 10 rebounds against No. 14/13 Oklahoma State on Friday. She was 7-of-12 from the floor, 1-of-1 from three and 3-of-3 from the line. Fagbenle then posted 16 points and eight boards against SMU on Sunday and set a career-high with four blocks.
Harvard returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 2 as it plays host to UMass at 7 p.m. in Lavietes Pavilion.
