Delaney-Smith Speaks to UMass Boston Athletics Management Team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University Head Women's Basketball Coach Kathy Delaney-Smith recently spoke in front of the University of Massachusetts Boston Athletics Department Management Team, taking part in a day of exercises which were aimed at “Raising the Bar.”

Delaney-Smith emphasized areas such as leadership, professionalism, integrity, sensitivity to differences, building strong relationships, and managing cultural change to members of the athletic department. In addition, the management team has been reading the book ‘Leadership is an Art’ as well as Duke Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s book, ‘Leading from the Heart.’ 

“Coach Delaney-Smith gave a fabulous presentation,” commented Cheryl Aaron, assistant director of athletics at UMass Boston. “She is dynamic, funny, and a great story teller with a great story to tell. She is not only very successful in her field of expertise, but she is extremely motivating, humble and fearless.  She has taken on many causes in her career with great sense of grace, poise and courage.”
