Gillespie, Hill Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
Brian Hill picked up his first USTFCCCA All-Academic
accolade (David Silverman).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Chas Gillespie and Brian Hill of
the Harvard men’s track and field team have received United
States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
(USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors, the organization announced
Thursday.
Gillespie was one of two Crimson men to qualify for the NCAA Regionals in the 5,000-meter run, posting a time of 14:02.19 at the Stanford Invitational in March. Hill earned a spot on the All-Academic list by recording NCAA qualifying times in the 800-meter run in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Hill’s best indoor time of 1:49.96 came at the Columbia Last Chance meet and his top time outdoors was 1:49.60, posted at the IC4A Outdoor Championships .
The honor is Gillespie’s second in his collegiate career while Hill earned his first USTFCCCA All-Academic nod.
The USTFCCCA honors Division I individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in his/her respective event.
The organization will announce the team awards next week.
