Track and Field Posts Pair of Fourth-Place Finishes at Heptagonal Championships

HANOVER, N.H. – The men’s and women’s
track and field teams posted a pair of fourth-place finishes at the
2010 Heptagonal Championships, Saturday at Leverone Field House.
The men finished the meet with 53 total points, 12 more than their
total from last year, while the women compiled 61 points over the
weekend.
The Princeton men captured the title with 181 points, followed by
Cornell (149) and Dartmouth (55). Columbia finished a point behind
Harvard with 52 and Brown (38), Penn (33) and Yale (28) rounded out
the men’s results. The Tigers also captured the women title,
totaling 125 points to best Columbia’s total of 110 and
Cornell’s 96. Brown finished with 55 points, and Penn (48),
Yale (16) and Dartmouth (16) rounded out the women’s final
scores.
John Dingus gave the Crimson men a boost with a second-place
finish in the 400 meter dash, posting a time of 48.81. Brian Hill
took fourth place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:53.23 and
Darcy Wilson had a similar result in the 1,000 meter event, posting
a time of 2:28.29. Dan Chenoweth chipped in six points with a
third-place time of 14:22.67 in the 5,000 meter run, and Jack Brady
added eight points with a second-place toss of 18.60 meters in the
weight throw. Harvard’s 4x400 meter relay team of Dingus,
Justin Grinstead, Jonathan Meminger and Robbie Paris took third to
add six points to the men’s total.
Carlyle Davis and Thea Lee finished three-four in the
women’s 800 meter run to add 10 points to the Harvard total
and Olivia Weeks finished second in the triple jump with a mark of
12.10 meters to contribute eight points. Christine Reed scored
3,409 points in the pentathlon for a third-place finish, and was
followed immediately by teammate Nicole Silva who totaled 3,387
points in the event.
Next up for Harvard are the ECAC and IC4A Championships March 6-7.
The ECACs will be held at the Reggie Lewis Track Center while the
IC4As will be held at Boston University’s Track and Tennis
Center.
