Harvard Women Win Harvard Select Meet: Men Finish Second

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard
women’s track and field team defeated Brown, 67-54, while the
Harvard men finished second out of three in a tri-meet with
Connecticut and Brown in the Harvard Select Meet Saturday afternoon
at Gordon Indoor Track.
Sophomore Darcy Wilson qualified for the IC4A Championships in the
800 meter and junior Dina Emde’s qualified for the ECAC
Championships with her winning attempt in the high jump.
The Crimson women won six events and took all the scoring
positions in the high jump, long jump and 60 meter dash.
Saturday’s event winners included freshmen Olivia Weeks in
the long jump (5.53 meters), Sydnie Leroy in the pole vault (3.45
meters) and Ashtynn Baltimore in the 60 meter dash (8.14 meters)
and junior Dina Emde in the high jump (1.70 meters). Harvard also
won both relays; the 4x440 yard and the distance medley.
On the men’s side, Harvard won three individual events and
the distance medley relay. Senior co-captain Jack Brady took the
top spot in the shot put (16.53 meters) and the weight throw (18.20
meters), while newcomer Kenneth Wang Kan won in the long jump (6.72
meters). Harvard finished either second or third eight times in
Saturday’s meet.
Connecticut won the tri-meet in the men’s meet with 88
points. The Crimson scored 45 points, while Brown added 12.
Harvard continues its homestand with the Harvard Multi Meet Jan.
29-30. Two-time Olympian Bryan Clay is slated to compete at the
meet next weekend.
