The Particulars
The Harvard men’s and women’s track and field teams
host the Harvard Invitational Saturday Dec. 16 at Gordon Indoor
Track. The field events will begin at 9 a.m., while the running

The Harvard Open is the largest meet the Crimson will host and
compete in this season. Athletes vary from Division I, II and III,
to elite and master’s competitors. Twenty-nine teams make up
the 525 entries on the day.
There will be preliminary and finals in the 60m dash and hurdle
races. All other track events will be timed finals. All throw
events will have qualifying throws, followed by finals. No team
scoring will be kept.
Last Time Out
The Harvard men’s and women’s track and field team
finished fourth in the team scoring at the 41st Dartmouth Relays
Sunday. Highlighting the first meet of the new year was impressive
performances from Harvard’s underclassmen, a win in the pole
vault and two IC4A Championship qualifying marks. The Harvard men
and women both had nine top-15 performances in a meet that featured
both collegiate and open competitors.
Championship Standards
Jack Brady and Steven Geloneck both qualified for the IC4A
Championships. Brady qualified in the shot put and the weight
throw, while Geloneck made it in the 60 meter dash.
Top of the League
Jack Brady has the best throw in the Ivy League in the weight
throw and fourth in the shot put. Steven Geloneck is second in the
conference in the 60 meter dash. On the women’s side Meghan
Ferreira has the fast time in the league in the 60 meter hurdles,
while Dina Emde ranks second in the high jump Shannon Watt has the
fourth best throw in the shot put and Brianne Holland-Stergar has
fourth best throw in the weight throw in the league.
Home Sweet Home
Saturday’s meet is the first of four home contests this
season. The Crimson will compete in only two other states this
indoor season – New Hampshire (Dartmouth Relays, Heps) and
New Jersey (HYP).
Coming Attraction
Harvard will be back in action at home next weekend for the
