Christensen Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American

Senior Becky Christensen added another award to her already impressive Harvard resume. The four-time All-American was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American second team for women's track and field/cross country.

Christensen, who is coming off a fifth-place finish at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, is a two-time ESPN The Magazine first-team Academic All-District recipient. She is a four-time Academic All-Ivy League honoree and was also selected to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team in 2007 and 2008.

The Celina, Texas, native is one of the most decorated female track and field athletes at Harvard. She is a six-time Heptagonal champion in the high jump, winning four straight outdoor titles. She is a two-time ECAC champion and six-time NCAA qualifier.Christensen, who earned a degree in psychology last month, is not done competing in a Harvard uniform either. She will participate in the 2009 USA Track and Field Championships June 25-28 in Eugene, Ore. The national championships are being held at the same venue as last summer's Olympic Trials where Christensen advanced to the finals and jumped a then-personal best 1.84 meters.

NECN recently caught up with Christensen training with assistant coach Will Thomas. The feature will air Monday night at 11 p.m. For a sneak peak, go to NECN.com.
