    I walked into Harvard thinking I was done with competitive sports. But here I am four years later: a two-sport Division 1 walk-on and a varsity letter sweater to my name. For me, my time on the lightweight crew team and then the alpine skiing team split my college career right down the middle. Looking back, I feel like I have had college divided into two two year chunks. Each taught me very different lessons and I cherish for very different reasons.

    As I write this sitting along the banks of the Charles River warmed by the radiant sun and slight spring breeze, gazing towards the infamous JFK Bridge (well technically the Anderson Bridge), I can’t help but think back to just four and a half years ago. It was a blustery January day when I crossed the bridge for the very first time as an eager prospective student.

  • 17 Skiing Student-Athletes Earn USCSCA All-Academic Honors

    Seventeen members from the Harvard skiing team were named to the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA) National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team, the organization announced Friday. The Crimson had the most selections of any EISA school.
  • Skiing Closes Out Competition at NCAA Regional Championships

    The Harvard skiing team competed in the NCAA Regional Championships in Rumford, Maine this weekend, recording an 11th-place finish out of the 16-team field. Harvard was led by top-25 finishes from senior Rachel Hampton and freshman William Rhatigan.

    The Harvard skiing team is set for the Bates Carnival and NCAA Regional Championships in Rumford, Maine this weekend, Feb. 24-25. The events will take place at the Sunday River and Black Mountain Ski Resorts.

    The Harvard skiing team concluded its regular season with a 10th-place finish at the Middlebury Carnival in Middlebury, Vermont this weekend. The Crimson now looks ahead to the NCAA Regional Championships in Rumford, Maine next weekend, Feb. 24-25.

    The Harvard skiing team is set to conclude regular season action at the Middlebury Carnival in Middlebury, Vermont Feb. 17-18. The Crimson will compete in its fifth carnival of the year this weekend, recording three previous top-ten finishes on the year.

    The Harvard skiing team completed its opening weekend at the St. Lawrence Carnival in Lake Placid, New York, earning 10th amongst the 17-team field.
  • Skiing Opens Season at St. Lawrence Carnival
    January 19, 2017
    The Harvard nordic and alpine skiing teams will kick off the season at the St. Lawrence Carnival in Lake Placid, New York on Friday, Jan. 20. The nordic squad will compete at Mt. Van Hoevenberg and the alpine team will race on Whiteface Mountain and Draper’s Drop at the two-day event through Saturday.
  • Armstrong Named to U.S. Junior Biathlon World Championship Team

    Sophomore Nina Armstrong of the Harvard nordic ski team was selected to the U.S. Junior (U21) World Biathlon Championship team after competing at the national team trials this past week. More than 40 athletes participated in the trials at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Vermont.

    Harvard Athletics has recently released the alpine and nordic 2017 schedules. The 77th season of Harvard skiing features five regular season carnivals leading up to the NCAA/EISA Championships in late February.
  • Harvard Alpine Skiing Welcomes Class of 2020

    Tim Mitchell, the Paul J. Finnegan Family Head Coach for Harvard Skiing, welcomes five newcomers to the alpine squad for the 2016-17 campaign. Courtney Clark, Alexander Dorfman, Lars Hornburg, Carter Kendig and Dillon Smith will make up the class of 2020.
