HANOVER, N.H. – The Harvard skiing team wrapped the weekend at the Dartmouth Carnival, finishing 10th overall as senior Akeo Maifeld-Carucci and sophomore Devlin Shea led the nordic squad with two top-20 finishes.
Maifeld-Carucci posted a time of 27:36.0 in the 10K freestyle, just half a minute out of the top-10, to place 18th overall. Sophomore Ian Meyer crossed in 28:51.6 to take 38th overall, with rookie Connor Green not far behind in 41st-place.
Shea registered a strong finish in the classic sprint to finish at No. 19 (3:14.9). The Waitsfield, Vermont native was just two seconds out of the top-15. Maifeld-Carucci finished just behind (3:15.8) to take 21st.
On the women's side, sophomore Rachel Hampton continued her strong start to place 24th in the 10K freestyle (33:25.2). Junior Annie Harvieux crossed in 34:34.1 to take 33rd and teammate Hanna Barnes was just behind (35th).
The Crimson had four student-athletes in the top-45 in the classic sprint. Harvieux posted a time of 3:22.0 to place two seconds behind the top-20 (23rd). Sophomore Maile Sapp was two seconds behind in a tight field to rank 31st. Barnes (41) and Emily Rogers (44) rounded out the quartet.
Freshman Kelly Steeves took 31st in the giant slalom and 33rd in the slalom.
Harvard will wrap the regular season next weekend at the Middlebury Carnival at Middlebury Snow Bowl/Rikert Touring Center.
