2014 NFCA All-Region Teams
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following selection to the All-Ivy League first team, Harvard softball standouts Kasey Lange and Laura Ricciardone were named to the NFCA All-Northeast Region third team, the organization announced Thursday. It marks Lange’s fourth NFCA all-region nod while Ricciardone picks up her first after a stellar junior season.
Harvard’s two representatives on the all-region squad ties for the highest among Ivy schools, as Dartmouth had a pair of players earn all-region honors as well. Lange was the only position player from the Ivy League to earn a place on an all-northeast region team.
Lange capped her storied collegiate career with another strong season as a senior captain. Lange led the Crimson in batting average (.353), RBI (29) and home runs (6), and was also among the league leaders in those categories. She graduates as one of the most decorated players in Harvard softball history, as she has or shares the program lead in career slugging percentage, stolen base percentage, doubles, home runs, total bases and RBI.
Ricciardone flourished as the staff ace in 2014, earning the first, first-team All-Ivy selection and all-region selection of her career. She led all Ivy pitchers with a 1.53 earned-run average and six shutouts, and tied for the league lead with 18 wins on the season. In league action, Ricciardone was even tougher to score against, boasting a league-best 0.84 ERA while pitching the second-most league innings of any Ivy pitcher.
