Tucson Regional Awaits Harvard Softball in NCAA Tournament
Harvard will take on the No. 8 Arizona Wildcats in its first
game of the 2011 NCAA Tournament (Harvard Athletic
Communications).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard softball team learned
its destination for the 2011 NCAA regional round, as it will
compete in the Tucson regional May 20-22 at Hillenbrand Memorial
Stadium. The Crimson joins host No. 8 Arizona, Texas Tech and New
Mexico State in the regional round. The Crimson will take on the
host Wildcats in its first contest.
Harvard has never faced Arizona or Texas Tech in team history, but it holds a 1-0 record against New Mexico State. The Crimson faced the Aggies at the 2007 Eller Media Stadium Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., capturing a 7-5 victory during its spring break trip.
This is Harvard’s fourth trip to the NCAA tournament in team history with its last coming in 2007. The Crimson is 3-6 in nine career NCAA contests.
