Ten members of the softball team earned Scholar-Athlete recognition from the NFCA (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard softball team was recognized for its academic achievement during the 2010 season Wednesday, as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) awarded All-Academic honors to the Crimson as well as 10 Scholar-Athlete awards to individual members of the team.
With a team GPA of 3.480 last season, the Crimson ranked 10th among Division I programs. Robert Morris topped the Division I list for the second year in a row with a team GPA of 3.580. Harvard was the only Ivy League school and the only school from New England to place in the top-10.
In the individual awards, 10 members of the Crimson earned Scholar-Athlete recognition from the organization. Graduated senior Stephanie Krysiak '10 earned the honor and was joined by returning players Ashley Heritage, Ellen Macadam, Emily Henderson, Eve Rosenbaum, Julia Moore, Mari Zumbro, Olivia Piccione, Rachel Brown and Stephanie Regan on the list. In order to qualify for Scholar-Athlete status, players had to obtain a 3.5 GPA or higher during the 2009-10 academic year.
