CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Despite an abbreviated week of contests due to weather delays, sophomore Rachel Brown of the Harvard softball team has been named the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week for April 27, the league announced Tuesday. The award marks the third time this season Brown has been named the league’s top pitcher.
Brown turned in yet another strong week for the Crimson, earning her 12th win of the season and recording 19 strikeouts in just eight innings of work. In game one of a doubleheader against Yale April 24, Brown twirled a one-hit shutout and recorded a season-high 16 strikeouts, giving her three straight starts with double-digit strikeouts. Brown also struck out the side in one inning of relief in game two against the Bulldogs. She ended the week with a 0.00 ERA, having allowed just two hits and three walks.
The Crimson is back in action today as it takes on Yale in a twinbill, originally scheduled for Sunday, April 25. Today’s doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
