ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After finishing the first day in eighth place, the Harvard sailing team ascended up the standings to finish in third at the ICSA regional championship held in Annapolis, Md. Both the A and B division teams had a sterling Sunday as the squads recorded single-digit finishes in nine out of 10 races.
Senior Brendan Kopp, sophomore Sarah Pierson and freshman Brian Drumm split time in the A-division as the trio had 11 top-10 finishes, including a key first and second place finishes on the regatta's final two races helping Harvard secure a share of third place in the A division with 84 points. In the B group Senior Emily Lambert and freshman Reid Bergsund split time with sophomore Sarah Pierson and freshman Brian Drumm. The quartet also recorded 11 top-10 finishes giving the squad 102 points, and fifth place in the B group. The Miami Hurricanes earned the top spot in the regatta while Yale edged Harvard for second.
With the third-place finish Harvard has qualified for the Gill/ICSA Coed National Championship finals, held June 6-9 in Austin Texas.
