CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2014 Harvard men's water polo schedule, which features six home games on the Ivy League Digital Network, has been released. The Crimson plays tournaments at Brown, Princeton and in Pomona, Calif., along with its usual CWPA schedule and the Ivy Championships in preparation for the CWPA Northern and Eastern tournaments.
Led by Ted Minnis, The Friends of Harvard Water Polo Head Coach and last season's CWPA Coach of the Year, Harvard will play on the road for the first two weekends of the season starting September 6 and the Princeton Invitational. From there, the Crimson go to Brown for the Bruno Fall Classic Sept. 13-14 to face the likes of Santa Clara, UC Irvine, Connecticut College and Navy, before returning home to host CWPA Northern rivals St. Francis, Iona, Fordham and Brown.
The Crimson heads west on Oct. 3 for the Claremont Convergence Tournament in Pomona, Calif., to start a two-week road trip. Harvard squares off with Whittier (Oct. 5), Brown (Oct. 11), Connecticut College (Oct. 11) and MIT (Oct. 15) before the Ivy Championships in Providence, R.I., on Oct. 18-19.
Harvard returns to Cambridge for its last two home games of the year on Oct. 25 as the Crimson play host to MIT and Connecticut College on the Ivy League Digital Network. On Nov. 1, Harvard heads to St. Francis, Fordham (Nov. 2) and Iona (Nov. 2) to close out regular season action in the pool.
The CWPA Northern Division Championship is slated for November 9-10 at MIT, while the league's 12-team CWPA Eastern Championship is scheduled for November 21-23 on the campus of the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
The Crimson enjoyed one of the more successful seasons recently in 2013, and will look to improve on its 18-14 record, having gone 11-1 in the CWPA Northern Division.
