Robbie Fluegge Named CWPA Northern Division Rookie of the Week

Robbie Fluegge is the fourth different freshman to be named CWPA Northern Division Rookie of the Week this season.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Robbie Fluegge has been named the College Water Polo Association Northern Division Rookie of the Week for Oct. 29.

In two games at the Ivy Championships, the California native tallied four goals and five steals to help the Crimson go 1-1 in the event before the final game was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy.

Fluegge turned in the best performance of his young career in the opener against Penn. The Miramonte product established new career highs in goals (4) and steals (4) in a 21-15 victory over Penn to help Harvard advance to the semifinals against Brown. He added to his numbers with a steal against the Bears.

Fluegge is the fourth member of Harvard's freshmen class to be honored by the CWPA as the top freshman performer of the week this season, joining Noah Harrison (Sept. 3, Oct. 8), Ben Zepfel (Sept. 17, Oct. 15) and Blake Lee (Sept. 24, Oct. 22). Overall, the Crimson has won nine CWPA weekly honors this season.

Harvard returns to action Saturday against Fordham in the CWPA Northern Division Championships for the opportunity to advance to the CWPA Eastern Championships.
