CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Max Eliot and Evan Ramsey were named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) All-Conference second team Friday. The announcement came at the CWPA awards banquet following the first day of action at the CWPA Eastern Championship. It is the first All-CWPA honor for each student-athlete.
Eliot has led the Crimson in scoring since the begining of the season as he has netted 41 goals in 2011. The junior was named the CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week for Sept. 12 after scoring seven goals in four games at the Princeton Invitational. Eliot had five goals, including the game-winner in overtime, against George Washington to open the tournament.
Ramsey has provided a defensive lift since his first collegiate game for the Crimson. The freshman opened the year by contributing at least one steal in the team’s first 11 games and leads the squad with 50 steals thus far. Ramsey was selected as the CWPA Northern Division Rookie of the Week Oct. 17, while also being picked to the CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week Honor Roll for tallying six goals, including five against Connecticut College, three assists and four steals in three games during the week. The Irvine, Calif., native was placed on the CWPA Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week Honor Roll Oct. 31 after making ten steals in three games to lead the Crimson to a third-place finish at the Ivy Championships.
The Crimson take on Bucknell tomorrow at 3 p.m. in a consolation match at the CWPA Eastern Championship at Blodgett Pool. For the complete tournament schedule click here.
