Thompson Earns Collegiate Water Polo Player of the Week Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Alex Thompson of the men's water polo team has been named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division Player of the Week (Sept. 6) after leading the Crimson in scoring for two of their three games at the season-opening MIT Invitiational.

Thompson scored seven goals and notched an assist over the two-day tournament, including four goals in a 12-8 victory over Cal-Lutheran, the team’s first win of the season and new head coach Ted Minnis’ first collegiate coaching victory.

In the team’s season-opening, 9-8, exhibition loss to the Boston Metro Elite water polo club, Thompson added two goals and an assist, before chipping in a single goal in a 16-7 loss to No. 14 St. Francis College (N.Y.).
