CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard
senior co-captain Egen Atkinson has been named Collegiate Water
Polo Association Northern Division Player of the Week, while
freshman Max Eliot took home this third Northern Division Rookie of
the Week honor, the CWPA announced Tuesday.
Atkinson, a native of Honolulu, Hawaii, led the Crimson in scoring
during the team’s four-game stretch at the Claremont
Convergence last weekend. Atkinson tallied six goals in four games,
as he recorded two hat tricks. He scored three times against No. 14
Concordia and added another three-goal performance against
Pomona-Pitzer. Atkinson leads Harvard in scoring this season with
21 goals in 16 games.
Eliot, who hails from Studio City, Calif., earned his second
straight nod as the Rookie of the Week after finding the back of
the net three times at the Claremont Convergence. Eliot scored
twice against 14th-ranked Concordia and once against No. 20 Cal
Baptist. He now stands tied for third on the Crimson with 15 goals
this season.
Atkinson, Eliot and their teammates sit tied atop the Northern
Division standings with a 2-0 record and four conference games
remaining. Harvard (4-12) begins a five-game homestand by hosting
Connecticut College Thursday at 8 p.m.
