Senior co-captain Brady Weissbourd of the Harvard men’s volleyball team has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District at-large second team, as announced Thursday morning. It marks the second year in a row Weissbourd was honored on the second team.

Junior co-captain Gil Weintraub is the cog that makes the offense go for the Harvard men’s volleyball team. As a setter, Weintraub’s main duty is to get in sync with his attacking teammates as he distributes the ball. It certainly worked in 2009, as Weintraub finished fourth in the EIVA and 14th in the nation in assists per set with 12.29, helping to lead the Crimson to a share of the EIVA Hay Division title.

Harvard Ends Season With 3-1 Loss at George Mason in EIVA Playoffs 4/22/09
The Harvard men’s volleyball team hung tough with George Mason, but the Patriots ultimately prevailed, 3-1, Wednesday night in the first round of the EIVA playoffs. The No. 8 seed Crimson saw its season come to a close with an 11-8 overall record, as Harvard finished in a tie for first place in the EIVA Hay Division with a 6-2 conference mark in 2009.

The Harvard men’s volleyball team will begin EIVA playoff action Wednesday at 7 p.m., as the eighth-seeded Crimson heads to Fairfax, Va., to take on No. 5 seed George Mason at the Field House.

Weissbourd Leads Crimson Attack in 3-1 Win Over Sacred Heart on Senior Day
Brady Weissbourd knocked down 24 kills on Senior Day as the Harvard men’s volleyball team clinched at least a share of the Hay Division title with a 3-1 win over Sacred Heart Saturday afternoon at the Malkin Athletic Center.
