CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - DJ White of the Harvard men's volleyball team has been named EIVA Defensive Player of the Week after pacing the Crimson's efforts in two setbacks to top-15 opponents this weekend the conference announced this afternoon.
White totaled 17 kills, 11 digs and three total blocks in Harvard's home opening weekend to earn his first weekly honor of the season, first defensive accolade and third award overall.
The junior who hails from Hermosa Beach, Calif., opened the weekend with a strong showing against then-No. 11 Lewis, registering a team-high 11 kills, a .400 hitting percent, five digs, and a block as Harvard fell to the Flyers, 3-1.
The following night versus then-No. 2 Loyola Chicago, White tallied six kills, four digs and two blocks.
White and the Crimson return to action Saturday, Feb. 1 when Harvard makes the short trip to crosstown rival MIT for a 6 p.m. match.
