CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Nick Madden of the Harvard men's volleyball team has been named the EIVA Defensive Player of the week, the conference announced this afternoon.
Madden helped Harvard to a 1-1 week as the squad improved to 9-5 overall and 7-2 in EIVA play. The San Diego, Calif., native led the Crimson with 2.13 kps, 2.39 dps and .500 bps. He is the third member of the team to earn defensive player of the week honors after classmate Kyle Rehkemper was recognized Feb. 7 and junior DJ White received the accolade Jan. 27.
Friday night at George Mason, Madden turned in a seven kill, eight dig performance in a 3-0 setback to the Patriots. The opposite hitter closed the weekend with a strong showing in a 3-2 victory at Princeton on Saturday pouring in 10 kills, 11 digs and four blocks. The double-double effort marks the second of the season for Madden and sixth of his career.
Madden and the Crimson return to the court tomorrow evening as the Crimson hosts Marymount (Va.) at the Malkin Athletic Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
