CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the third straight week, senior Nick Madden has been named the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week the conference announced this afternoon.
Madden helped guide Harvard to a 3-2 victory over then-No. 15 Ohio State for the Crimson's fourth five set victory of the season and third time the team has downed a top-15 opponent in the past three years. The San Diego, Calif., native posted five digs and a season-high five blocks to lead Harvard's defensive effort. He also chipped in his sixth double-digit kill performance of the season with 11 while hitting .241.
The weekly award is the sixth EIVA honor taken home by the Crimson this season and fifth defensive accolade for Harvard this year. DJ White has earned both defensive and offensive player of the week nods while senior Kyle Rehkemper was tabbed the best defensive player over a seven-day stretch for the week ending Feb. 9.
Madden and the Crimson return to action Friday, March 28 as Harvard hosts its EIVA rival and travel partner Sacred Heart at the Malkin Athletic Center in a 7 p.m. showdown.
