CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Nick Madden and junior DJ White have swept the EIVA weekly awards with Madden receiving his second ever Defensive Player of the Week honor and White picking up his third Offensive Player of the Week nod.
White paced the Crimson attack as Harvard went the distance at Ball State Sunday, March 16, but could not outlast the 13th-ranked Cardinals falling in five, 3-2. The junior poured in 26 kills and hit for an impressive .328 to lead a quartet of Crimson players with double-digit kill efforts. White's 26 kills is the most by a Harvard play since Madden tallied 27 in a 3-1 win at Cal-Baptist, March 13, 2012. The opposite hitter, who calls Hermosa Beach, Calif., home also contributed to Harvard's defensive efforts with 10 digs for the second double-double of his career.
Madden earned his second weekly honor in as many weeks after turning in another strong all-around performance. The San Diego, Calif., native contributed 17 kills, 16 digs, four blocks and two aces while hitting a .394 clip. Madden's double-double performance was the third of the season and seventh of his career.
The Crimson returns to the court tomorrow even as Harvard visits No. 15 Ohio State at 7 p.m.
