CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior setter Rob Lothman was named to the 2013 Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) All-Academic Team in a conference announcement made on Tuesday. This is the first such award for Lothman.
Recipients must have progress past their first year of eligibility, have participated in at least 60 percent of their team's sets and maintained a 3.5 GPA.
Lothman, who was named to the All-EIVA second team last week, played in 90 sets over 26 matches this season. The Harvard captain finished the year third in the EIVA with 909 total assists, tied for fourth most in program history, and averaged 10.1 assists per set.
Lothman concluded his career as the Crimson's all-time assists leader with 3,043 helpers. The Glendale, Mo., native recorded 10 matches with 50 or more assists throughout his tenure, with three of those marks ranking among the program's all-time single-match highs.
The Crimson went 18-9 on the year, including a 10-4 mark in conference play. The men's volleyball team achieved its highest-ever national ranking, No. 14, in the AVCA Division I-II Poll from Feb. 25 to March 4. Harvard defeated Penn State for the first time in school history during the regular-season and also made its first appearance in the EIVA Championship match.
