Men's Volleyball Drops Final Match of the Season to Visiting NJIT Highlanders
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Harvard men's volleyball
team couldn't hold off the visiting NJIT Highlander's late in the
fourth set, falling 3-1 in the final match of the season.
Sophomore Matt
Jones led the Crimson with 20 kills while three of the seniors,
playing in their final match for Harvard, also posted double-digit
kills. Gil
Weintraub and Soren Rosier
tallied season-high kills with 17 and 14, respectively, while Erik Kuld
recorded 16 kills. Freshman Rob Lothman
handed out 64 assists in the match.
Harvard started the first set strong, tallying 17 kills and just
six errors. The Crimson downed NJIT, 30-25 and kept momentum going
into the beginning of the second set. The Harvard offense stalled
with the set tied at 9-9, as Crimson errors propelled the
Highlanders to a 30-17 victory. In the final two sets, Harvard had
the opportunity to claim the set, but NJIT's Christian Puszies, who
had a match-high 23 kills, posted timely blocks and led his team to
32-30 and 34-32 victories.
Harvard wrapped up the season with a 5-16 overall record and a 3-5
mark in the EIVA Hay division.
