PRINCETON, N.J. – Every point counted Sunday between Princeton and the Harvard men's tennis team, as two doubles matches were decided by one game and five of the six singles matches went to a deciding third set. The Tigers would grab the final edge, 4-3, over the Crimson.
Alistair Felton and Andy Nguyen grabbed their 20th win of the season as a doubles tandem, defeating Augie Bloom and Dan Davies at the No. 3 spot, 8-4. Bloom paired with Matt Spindler in the fall when Felton and Nguyen topped them to take the ITA Northeast Region Indoor title. Harvard (13-9, 2-2 Ivy League) would lose the doubles point, however, as the teams of Casey MacMaster and Aba Omodele-Lucien (No. 1), and Jonathan Pearlman and Joshua Tchan (No. 2) both fell, 9-8, to Princeton (12-6, 5-0 Ivy League) duos.
Harvard got singles victories from MacMaster, Nguyen and Omodele-Lucien. Nguyen's win was the only singles match Sunday that did not go three sets, as he topped Princeton's Dan Richardson, 6-4, 6-4. MacMaster's match was the closest of the day, as each set went to a tiebreaking 13th game. The freshman would beat Matt Siow, 6-7, 7-6, 7-6, at the No. 4 slot.
The Crimson continues Ivy League play with a road match at Yale Friday before returning home Sunday to host Brown in its final home dual of the season.
