CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following the Harvard men's swimming and diving team's triumph over Yale and Princeton, the program held a dedication ceremony for Blodgett Pool's brand-new video board that was installed over winter break.
"Purchasing the new video board was a partnership between that athletics department and our swimming and diving alumni," says Assistant Director of Athletics – Alumni Relations and Stewardship, Jennifer Downing Ed.M. '06. "It's very special that our former student-athletes have remained connected with Harvard beyond their graduation, and have chosen to support our current and future teams in such a meaningful way. We are grateful to our alumni, parents, and friends for all they do to help our athletes pursue excellence in the classroom as well as the pool."
Friends of the Harvard swimming and diving program filled the Hall of History to thank the donors for their generosity. Amongst the donors recognized, were alums Steve Baird '74, Bob Hackett '81, Lars Reierson '87, Dan Simkowitz '87, Patrick Healy '89, and Joe Zumpano '91 along with The Ulen-Brooks Endowed Coach for Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving Kevin Tyrrell.
"Having a new video scoreboard will benefit all our programs, not only men's and women's swimming and diving, but our men's and women's water polo teams as well," says Downing. "The larger display and new technology will allow us to feature live-stream video and replay alongside race results, game scores, pool and team records."
The new video board will also enhance the environment and experience for fans attending competitions at Blodgett Pool in the future.
