Meyer Eyes 25K Title at World Open Water Swimming Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Alex Meyer ’10 of the Harvard men’s swimming team is set to compete in the Sixth Annual FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships later this week. The event began July 15 and runs through the 23rd, with Meyer slated to compete in the 25k event on the 22nd.

Meyer will travel to Roberval, Quebec, Canada to compete in the Championships that feature races for both men and women in 5k, 10k and 25k distances. So far this summer, Meyer has competed in a number of open water events, highlighted by a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 5k and 10k at the U.S. National Open Water Swimming Championships in Long Beach, Calif. Because of his strong results at the national championship event, Meyer was invited to represent the United States at the world championships in the 25k.
