ROME -- Senior co-captain Alex Meyer of the
Harvard men’s swimming and diving team recently competed in
his first international competition at the 25k open-water swim at
the Federation Internationale De Natation (FINA) World
Championships in Rome.
Meyer started the meet, which was held in the Harbor of Ostia on the Mediterranean Sea July 25, among the leaders, but was disqualified in the second half of the race.
Meyer, a native of Ithaca, N.Y., had qualified for the FINA World Championships after placing fifth in the 10k at the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships in Fort Myers, Fla.,in June.
