Mohammed Ayaz is in his 10th year as assistant coach with the
men's and women's squash programs in 2009-10. He was Director of
Squash at Longfellow Club between 1997-2000.
Over the past 10 seasons, Ayaz has helped the Harvard's men's
squash team earn 31 All-Ivy League honors, two Rookies of the Year
accolades and one Player of the Year award. In addition, the
Crimson has earned 21 All-American nods and has seen two players
win the CSA individual national championship (Siddharth Suchde '07
in 2007 and Colin West '10 in 2010).
On the women's side, Lily Lorentzen '06 (2006), Kyla Griff '07
(2007) and Laura Gemmell '13 (2010) took home the individual
women's national title. Harvard has had 33 All-Americans and 28
All-Ivy League honorees on the women's team during Ayaz's stint in
Cambridge, as well as five Rookie of the Year honors and three
Player of the Year nods. The women's program has also
captured the CSA national team crown in 2001 and 2010.
A graduate of Punjab University, Ayaz has been teaching and
playing squash at the professional level for the past 17 years. He
received his coaching certification in Spain and Pakistan. He and
his wife, Julie, have a daughter, Natasha.
