No. 2 Men's Squash Downs No. 10 Dartmouth to Open 2013-14 Season

HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 2 Harvard men's squash team defeated No. 10 Dartmouth, 9-0, to earn its 36th consecutive season opening victory Tuesday. The Crimson has opened every season with a win since a 5-4 setback at Western Ontario to start the 1977-78 campaign.

Seven Crimson athletes swept their matches, led by Ali Farag at the No. 1 spot (11-4, 11-3, 11-7) against Alexander Greer. Brandon McLaughlin won 3-0 over Nicholas Harrington at the No. 2 position (11-9, 11-5, 11-6) and Gary Power swept Christopher Jung (11-5, 11-6, 11-4) at No. 3. Dylan Murray powered past Kyle Martino in the fourth position (11-7, 11-7, 11-7).

After losing the first game, Nigel Koh regained momentum to down Michael Mistras at the No. 5 spot (7-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-9). Bryan Koh (11-2, 11-6, 11-6) and Nicholas Hopcroft (11-9, 11-9, 11-6) each registered victories at the sixth and seventh position respectively. At the eighth spot, Tyler Olson dropped his first game before winning the next three to clinch the win (8-11, 11-2, 11-7, 11-2). Tom Mullaney (11-2, 11-6, 11-5) rolled to victory in the ninth spot.

Harvard returns to action Dec. 6 when the Crimson welcome Drexel and Boston College to the Murr Center before hosting Western Ontario on Dec. 7.
