Third-Ranked Men's Squash Breezes Past No. 15 Bates, 9-0

Ali Farag picked up a hard-fought win at the No. 1 position to improve to 3-0 this year (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The No. 3 Harvard men's squash team picked up its sixth shutout in seven matches Wednesday night at the Murr Center as the Crimson swept Bates, 9-0.

In the sweep, Harvard took seven of the nine matches by 3-0 margins and the other two 3-1 to improve to 2-0 in the all-time series against the Bobcats. The Crimson is now 7-0 in 2012-13, while Bates falls to 6-2.

Defending College Squash Association individual national champion and Harvard No. 1 Ali Farag bested freshman and fellow Egyptian Ahmed Khalek, 3-1, to improve to 3-0 on the season and 19-0 in his career.

Senior co-captain Jason Michas also remained undefeated on the year, knocking off Jason Shrubb, 3-1, at the No. 8 position.

No. 2 Brandon McLaughlin, No. 6 Tommy Mullaney and No. 9 Matt Roberts all improved to 4-0 on the year with their 3-0 victories, as well.

Harvard returns to action Saturday with a match against rival Penn at 12 p.m.
