Ahmed Wins Final Home Match, No. 4 Harvard Men’s Squash Sweeps Brown

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In its final match at the Murr Center this season, the No. 4 Harvard men's squash team swept Ivy League foe and No. 16 Brown, 9-0, Friday night.
The Crimson (14-2, 5-1 Ivy League) won its fourth straight and third consecutive against an Ivy League opponent. Harvard took 27-of-28 matches that were played in the top nine, as eight Crimson starters won by 3-0 tallies.
Harvard improved to 21-0 all-time against Brown with its 19th sweep of the Bears.
Senior co-captain Will Ahmed, the Crimson's lone senior, was victorious in the final match on his home court. Ahmed breezed past Avinash Bhavnani, 3-0 (11-9, 11-8, 11-2), at No. 9 to lead the way.
Freshman Ali Farag improved his career opening winning streak to seven with yet another win. The Cairo, Egypt native took down Brad Thompson in the No. 1 spot, 11-1, 11-1, 11-3. Farag's five points surrendered was the least of any Harvard starter.
Nick Hopcroft had the only hiccup for Harvard, losing 11-8 in the second game, but quickly rebounded for a pair of 11-6 victories to win at No. 2 The final seven spots in the Crimson order all had perfect bouts.
The Crimson takes on rival Yale in New Haven, Conn., Sunday at 1 p.m.
