Men's Squash Adds Four Freshmen For Upcoming Season
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Head coach Satinder
Bajwa has recently announced that four freshmen players will join
the Crimson men’s squash team in the fall of 2009.
Harvard will welcome Charles Gertler (Weston, Mass.), Alexander Ma
(Cliffside Park, N.J.), Jason Michas (New York, N.Y.) and Zeke
Scherl (Tenafly, N.J.) to the squad, which finished fourth at the
CSA Championships.
The Crimson was 7-6 overall and 3-3 in the Ivy League in 2008-09,
while earning an at least one All-America selection for the 53rd
straight year.
Charles Gertler, Weston, Mass./Weston
Ranked as high as No. 14 in the nation ... National Merit
Scholarship finalist ... AP Scholar ... Volunteer at Squashbusters
from 2004-05 ... Massachusetts all-state jazz band member.
Alexander Ma, Cliffside Park, N.J./Horace Mann
School
Seven-time letterwinner in tennis, squash and soccer at Horace
Mann School ... Ranked eighth under-19 in squash in 2009 and ninth
under-17 in 2008 ... Captained tennis team ... Four-time
all-conference selection in tennis ... Named to all-conference
second team in soccer in 2008 ... Tutor for Citysquash.
Jason Michas, New York, N.Y./Collegiate
School
Played squash and soccer at Collegiate School ... Placed eighth at
national in BU19 division in 2009 and seventh in 2007 ... Finished
eighth in US Youth championship in laser radial for sailing in 2008
... Started a squash club at Collegiate School ... AP Scholar.
Zeke Scherl, Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly
Placed fifth nationally in under-19 division in 2009 ... Was
second in the 2008 Yale Junior Squash Championships ... Finished
fourth in 2008 U.S. Squash under-23 championships ... Winner of
Englewood Field Club championship in 2007-08 and under-19 division
of the 2008 Greenwich Junior Open.
