Chris Cahill was named an assistant coach of men's
soccer at Harvard on June 4, 2008.
During the 2009 season, Cahill guided the Crimson
goalkeepers to a goals-against average of 0.83, allowing only 15
goals in 18 games. Harvard keepers also recorded nine shutouts on
the season, en route to the program's 14th Ivy League title.
In his first year with the Crimson staff, Cahill
helped the Harvard goalkeepers post seven shutouts, including six
by freshman Austin Harms. Harms was sixth in the nation and first
in the Ivy League with a 0.48 goals-against average.
A two-time All-Big East goalkeeper at Notre Dame,
Cahill completed his collegiate career with a stellar season in
2007, posting a 13-3-5 record with a 0.79 goals against average. He
recorded nine shutouts and was selected as the Big East Goalkeeper
of the Week on three occasions. He led the Fighting Irish to the
NCAA quarterfinal round after making five saves in a 2-0 win over
Santa Clara, as he established a school record with his fourth
career shutout during NCAA Championship play.
Cahill finished his career with a 39-16-9 record,
including action in three NCAA tournaments, and was a Big East
Academic All-Star.
A native of Louisville, Ky., Cahill graduated from
Notre Dame in 2007 with a degree in American Studies.
