Men’s Soccer Announces Class of 2021

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Adding to a highly-successful program that posted 10 wins for the second time in three seasons, including a nine-match unbeaten streak before the season promptly ended, Harvard men's soccer has announced the incoming class of 2021: Paolo Belloni-Urso, Cornelius Bencsik, Rory Conway, Fernando Docters, Matthew Freese, and Sebastian Lindner-Liaw.

"Our exciting 2021 class is comprised of six young men who we feel will positively impact our program and university," said Pieter Lehrer, The Virginia B. and James O. Welch, Jr. '52 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Soccer. "There is a lot of talent in this group, with all of them having played at the highest youth level in their respective countries."

The group spans five states, as well as Norway. The six talented freshmen add to a group that posted a 10-3-2 mark in 2016, including an unbeaten record in Ivy League play.

Paolo Belloni-Urso | M/F | Delray Beach, Fla. | International School in Genoa
Played for United States U18 national team and Honduras U17 and U15 national teams … Invited to train with Honduras Under-20 national team for the U20 World Cup … Ranked as the No. 48 recruit in the country … Plays for Genoa CFC in Italy, captured four-straight Serie-A national championships (U15, U16, U17, Primavera) … Captain of U16 and U17 teams for Genoa CFC … Scholar athlete … Outstanding Achievement Award recipient in multiple subjects.

Cornelius Bencsik | M | Brumunddal, Norway | Norwegian High School of Athletes
Played for Asker Football and Stabæk Football in Norway … Team captain in 2016 … Won Junior Interkrets Oslo/Akershus four years in a row with Stabæk 2013-16 … Second-place in Norwegian Cup … Team tallied a 43-match unbeaten streak … Debuted in Norwegian Tippeliga at age 17.

Rory Conway | D/F | Brookline, Mass. | Brookline
Took the field for the FC Boston Bolts as a forward and defender … Captained FC Boston's U16 team … Top scorer for FC Boston Bolts in 2014-15 campaign … National Honor Society member … President of Habitat for Humanity at Brookline … Father played soccer for University College of Galway in Ireland.

Fernando Docters | D/M | Larchmont, N.Y. | Hackley School
Played in New York Red Bulls system in 2016 … Previously trained with Boca Juniors Academy in 2013-14, and Racing Club U16 in 2015 … Starter for U15-17 United States Futsal national team … Named 2015 Ivy Preparatory League MVP … Won back-to-back national titles with New York Soccer Club … Honor roll … National Hispanic Recognition Program award.

Matthew Freese | GK | Bryn Mawr, Pa. | The Episcopal Academy
Competed for Philadelphia Union Academy in 2016-17 as a goalkeeper … Played for United States U19 national team … Has trained with Manchester United … 2016 Delaware County Player of the Year, named first team all-state and all-league ... 2015 US Youth Soccer National semifinalist with Penn Fusion '98 … Also a first-team all-county and all-league first team selection in 2014 and 2015 … Club team won five state titles, placed third at nationals … National Merit Scholar honorable mention … Gold medalist in National Spanish Exam … Cousin played for U18 USA women's lacrosse national team … Grandpa played professional football … Uncle played lacrosse at Georgetown.

Sebastian Lindner-Liaw | M | South Portland, Maine | Waynflete School
Competed for Seacoast Academy as a midfielder … Ranked as the No. 132 recruit in the country … Played in US Development Academy Select All-Star game … Started every game for Seacoast over the past two years … National Merit finalist … Cum Laude.
