Akpan Guides Chicago Fire PDL Team to League Final
VENTURA, Calif. -- Harvard forward Andre Akpan
scored a goal in the 74th minute of the 2009 United Soccer League
(USL) Premier Development League title game Saturday evening,
helping the Chicago Fire PDL squad finish second.
A forward and co-captain of the Crimson, Akpan evened up the game,
1-1, with a deflection off his foot late in the second half of the
contest.
A native of Grand Prairie, Texas, Akpan stands as Harvard's
all-time scoring leader with 97 points and also is first in program
history with 27 assists. Akpan and the Crimson open the
upcoming 2009 season with a home contest against Stony Brook at
Ohiri Field Friday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.
