Fucito Signs Professional Contract With Seattle Sounders FC

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Former Harvard
All-America forward Michael Fucito ’09 has signed a
professional contract with the Seattle Sounders FC of Major League
Soccer (MLS), the Sounders announced this week. Fucito, a
fourth-round selection in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft in January, was
taken by Seattle with the 46th overall pick in the draft.
A native of Westford, Mass., Fucito will be eligible to play in
the U.S. Open Cup and friendly matches. He also has been added to
the roster as a Senior Development player.
One of the top players in Harvard history, Fucito ranks fourth on
Harvard’s all-time goal, assist and scoring lists with 32
tallies and 24 helpers for 88 points. He was a two-time
All-American and guided the Crimson to the 2006 Ivy League
championship and three appearances in the NCAA Championship. A
three-time all-conference selection, Fucito was tabbed the Ivy
League Rookie of the Year in 2004.
