Men's Lacrosse Unveils 2013 Schedule
Harvard will play four opponents who played in the 2012 NCAA Tournament and in a nationally-televised game with Princeton.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's lacrosse team has announced its 2013 slate, which features four opponents who made appearances in last year's NCAA Tournament and five who concluded the 2012 season in the top-20.
"We have assembled a strong out-of-conference schedule highlighted by multiple home games in historic Harvard Stadium," Chris Wojcik, The Frisbie Family Head Coach for Harvard Men's Lacrosse said. "Our non-conference slate will be a challenge for our team, and we believe it will prepare us for Ivy League play. The Ivy League has a rich lacrosse tradition, and we expect a competitive 2013 season."
The Crimson welcomes UMass, who ended last season atop the USILA Coaches Poll and eighth in the Inside Lacrosse rankings, to Cambridge for its home opener Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. Harvard next plays host to Holy Cross Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. before heading to Long Island to face off against Hofstra.
After a home contest against Georgetown (March 8), Harvard embarks on a stretch of four games in ten days, beginning with its first Ancient Eight matchup of the year at Brown (March 16). At the end of the month, the Crimson will open up a three-game homestand, facing Albany (March 26), Duke (March 30) and Cornell (April 6). The Blue Devils, who finished the season at No. 3/4, have appeared in six-straight NCAA Tournament semifinals, while the Big Red was No. 17/16 in last year's final rankings.
Harvard concludes non-conference play at Quinnipiac (April 9) before traveling to New Jersey for a televised match-up with Princeton (April 19). The game will air nationally on ESPNU and features a Tigers opponent who competed in the NCAA Tournament last year and ended the season at No. 12/13. The Crimson closes its regular season at home versus Yale (April 27), with the Ivy League semifinals and finals are slated for May 3 and May 5, respectively.
