Gibbons Named NEILA Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After tying a career-high
with five goals in the 14th-ranked Crimson’s 16-6 win over
Canisius Feb. 27, junior attackman Dean Gibbons of the Harvard
men’s lacrosse team has been honored as the Turfer NEILA
Player of the Week, the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse
Association announced Tuesday afternoon.
Gibbons, who netted five goals on six shots in the season opener,
scored three times in the second quarter alone, helping the Crimson
jump out to a 9-3 lead at halftime. Gibbons, a native of Garden
City, N.Y., was honored on the NEILA Preseason All-New England team
prior to this year.
Gibbons and the Crimson will travel to Washington, D.C., to face
No. 14 Georgetown Wednesday, March 3. The game, scheduled for 3
p.m., will be broadcast live on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network
(MASN). Harvard is 1-0 on the season, while the Hoyas own a 0-1
record after falling to No. 7 Maryland.
