CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men’s hockey team will return to Madison Square Garden on January 10, 2015 for the second installment of the “Rivalry on Ice” against archrival Yale. NBC Sports Network will broadcast the matchup live nationally.
“Last year’s game was a tremendous success, and we’re adding even more opportunities for fans and alumni to enjoy the weekend,” said Ben Sturner, Chief Executive Officer of Leverage Agency. “Also, we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Mark Messier, who brings ‘Rivalry on Ice’ to an even higher level as he is such an inspiration to New Yorkers and fans worldwide.”
January’s meeting in Manhattan will be the 246th in the historic rivalry between Harvard and Yale that dates back to 1900. The first-ever “Rivalry on Ice” was played in front of a capacity crowd of 15,524 at Madison Square Garden with Yale coming out on top, 5-1. Rising junior Jimmy Vesey scored the Crimson’s lone tally to tie the game in the first period.
