CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Freshman Tommy O’Regan of the Harvard men’s hockey team has been named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. It is the third time this season a Crimson player has earned the honor.
O’Regan put together the most productive week of his young career with three assists and a +3 rating in three games. He assisted on each of Harvard’s first two goals, giving the Crimson the lead on both occasions, in the Feb. 13 Beanpot win against Northeastern. His second assist was a pass to Alex Fallstrom that covered half the length of the ice.
The Needham, Mass., native recorded another assist in Friday’s tie at Brown, logging the primary helper on an Alex Killorn goal. O’Regan has recorded two goals and five assists in 21 games this season.
O’Regan joins classmates Colin Blackwell and Patrick McNally as Harvard players to be selected as ECAC Rookie of the Week this season. Blackwell was selected Nov. 29, and McNally was chosen Dec. 13. Killorn has been named ECAC Player of the Week twice, Nov. 29 and Jan. 31.
Harvard (8-8-11, 6-5-9 ECAC Hockey) closes its regular season with home games against St. Lawrence Friday and Clarkson Saturday. The Crimson, Saints and Golden Knights are all in the mix for a first-round bye in the ECAC playoffs.
