CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The Harvard men's hockey team will visit Dartmouth for a best-of-three ECAC Hockey Championship quarterfinal series.
The No. 10 seed Crimson and third-seeded Big Green will face off Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at Thompson Arena in Hanover, N.H., and meet again, if necessary, Sunday at 4 p.m.
Harvard advanced to its 43rd quarterfinal in the 50 years of ECAC tournament play with a sweep of No. 7 seed Clarkson, 2-1 and 6-4, in the first round Friday and Saturday in Potsdam, N.Y. The Crimson's next opponent was determined Sunday, when 11th-seeded St. Lawrence and 12th-seeded Colgate won the deciding games of their first-round series against Princeton and Rensselaer, respectively.
In other quarterfinal action, top-seeded Union will host Colgate, while No. 2 seed Yale takes on St. Lawrence and No. 3 seed Cornell welcomes eighth-seeded Quinnipiac.
Dartmouth won both regular-season meetings with the Crimson. The Big Green posted an 8-2 victory Nov. 26 at Harvard's Bright Hockey Center and a 5-2 win a night later at Thompson.
Harvard is 4-0 all-time in playoff games against Dartmouth. The teams have never met for a multi-game series in the playoffs. Three of their previous four clashes came in the league semifinals, including the most recent meeting, a 10-1 Harvard victory on the way to the 2006 league title.
