CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-Freshman forward Louis Leblanc of the Harvard men's hockey team has been named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week for the second straight week, the league office announced Monday.
Leblanc recorded four points on three goals and an assist in the Crimson's three games during the week. He scored the tying goal with 2.3 seconds left in regulation to lift the Crimson to a 3-3 tie Saturday at Rensselaer. He also had an assist against the Engineers and scored Harvard's first two goals in Monday's 4-1 win against Dartmouth.
The Kirkland, Que., native also posted a +5 plus/minus rating and 15 shots on goal. His game-winning goal against the Big Green was his league-high third winning tally of the ECAC Hockey season. Leblanc shares the Harvard scoring lead with 16 points on nine goals and seven assists. With 15 points on nine goals and four helpers in league play, he is ECAC Hockey's top freshman scorer and is one goal shy of the league lead among all players.
Leblanc was previously named Rookie of the Week Jan. 18, after netting two goals in the Crimson's Jan. 12 win against rival Yale, ranked fifth nationally. He has six goals in the last five league games and ranks second among the nation's freshmen with 0.56 goals per game.
The Crimson (5-10-3, 5-5-2 ECAC Hockey, 3-2-1 Ivy League) has not lost in its last five ECAC home games (4-0-1) and is tied for the nation's fourth-longest active overall unbeaten streak at four games (3-0-1). Harvard is next takes on Ivy rival Princeton Friday night at Bright Hockey Center.
