Cohen Named National Fencer of the Week

Benjamin Cohen went 8-1 at MIT last weekend (Harvard Athletic Communications).

Sophomore Benjamin Cohen was rewarded for his performance Sunday at the MIT Eric Sollee Invitational by being named national fencer of the week for Jan. 31–Feb. 6 by CollegeFencing360.com.

Cohen sweeped epeeists from No. 7 Penn and No. 10 Duke at the invite and helped the No. 2 Crimson tally 16-11 scores against each ranked opponent and a 21-6 score against Hunter College for a perfect 3-0 in the competition.

Cohen defeated notable epeeists including Penn's top 2010 NCAA entrant Jacob Wichnia (5-3) and top newcomer Cliff Fishler (5-2). He also bested Duke's NCAA participants Jonathan Parker and Tristan Jones.
Cohen's next competition will take place at the Ivy League Championship Saturday and Sunday at Princeton.
